Island Saona, Dominican Republic

Brief history of Isla Saona.-

Saona
Saona Island, located at the southeastern tip of the Dominican Republic, is the largest of the adjacent to the Spanish Islands, part of the National Park of the East and serves as a sanctuary to several species of migratory birds. Originally his name is "ADAMANAY", is a primitive Aboriginal name. It is presumed that in the second trip of Cristóbal Colón to the island Hispaniola, accompanied by an Italian of origin Sabone came, an Italian region. This Italian was who discovered the island, and Cristóbal Colón wanted to be baptized the island in honor of the with the name: "Island Sabona".
